Each year, our church family packs and ships almost 250 boxes through Samaritan Purse’s Operation Christmas Child. With some in our congregation personally impacted by OCC in the past, we’ve joyfully set out to increase our sending to the lofty goal of 300 boxes!

To help make that happen, we have three avenues to take part in packing boxes, whatever your ability level is! They are to Pack, Give, or Come.

Pack

The normal, traditional way to pack a box. Simply pick up a pre-assembled box at church, pack it with school supplies, hygiene items, and toys as instructed, and return any time before November 12.

Many families use this as a family event, getting the kids involved in picking out items and packing the box.

We welcome any and all to pack a box and drop it off, and have helpful fliers available in the foyer with instructions on packing. Just don’t forget to pay for shipping!

Give

Between now and November 5, we’ll be collecting supplies, toys, and funds to Sponsor additional boxes through our church.

In order to pack a large number of boxes, it takes a large amount of supplies! But rather than buy items like pencils one by one, it is sometimes cheaper to have them purchased in bulk, then sorted out into many boxes. We welcome donations such as these to be dropped off at church.

And, of course, those of us organizing this will do some of our own shopping to make sure we have even amounts of supplies for more boxes. So, we welcome donations of any amount, but suggest the amount of $30 per box you’d like assembled and sent in your name. This can be given at the collection box at the OCC table, or in the offering box labeled for Operation Christmas Child.

Come

We started this last year with just the Youth Group, but this year are opening it up to anyone in the church: we’re having a Packing Party on November 12 from 6-8pm!

All the purchased supplies from donations, donated supplies dropped off at the church, and any additional toy items you’d like to bring, will be combined into boxes as we pack together in a family-oriented party!

All are welcome, even if you’re not able to contribute in other ways. We need the help to pack, write, and pray over quality boxes that will be shipped off in Jesus’ name.
