Church membership is a biblical spiritual reality among those who have received the Lord Jesus by grace through faith. The metaphors of body (1 Cor. 12), household (1 Tim. 3:15; 1 Pet. 4;17), and temple (1 Cor. 3:16-17; 1 Pet. 2:4-5) illustrate the degree to which individual believers are in vital union with one another. To be a Christian is to be joined to the Church of Jesus Christ in vital union to Jesus and to his followers.

While we affirm the doctrine of one true Church, we also affirm that “the true church is manifest in local churches” (Article #7 of our Statement of Faith). On that basis, we encourage local church membership. The commitments expressed through local church membership are mutually beneficial, helping to serve both the church and the individual as each seeks the other’s good through mutual care, service, and accountability.

We ask the following commitments from those seeking membership with E-Free (These are stated in our Constitution & Bylaws):

  • The person has, by faith, received the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • The person evidences faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in his/her daily living.
  • The person regularly attends weekly meetings of the Church when possible.
  • The person desires to be known as a member of the Church.
  • The person commits himself/herself to support the Church with his/her fellowship, gifts, prayers, and finances and submits himself/herself to the discipline of the Church.
  • The person submits himself/herself to the biblical exercise of authority by the leadership of the church.

Those interested in membership may submit a completed Membership Application to the church office. Please call the church office at 509-872-3390 if you have any questions.
